LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- A Larchmont woman is seeking information after stumbling upon a bird of a different feather.

Wildlife rehabilitator Kate Murphy is looking for the owner of a cockatiel found Monday, Oct. 7 at the intersection of Larchmont and Willow Avenues

Murphy, who works with Animal Nation of Rye, told The Daily Voice the bird was found emaciated on the rainy street by a local mother of three.

The bird, a grey and yellow cockatiel described as "pearl-patterned" is in care and is reportedly eating well and on his way to recovery.

"We don't know if he has mites or any other issues yet, but we're bringing in a vet soon to take a look at him. He's eating and drinking a lot, which is good to see," she said.

Any information on the bird's rightful owner can be sent to Murphy via email or at 914-447-4990.

Murphy said the bird will remain in her care for two weeks to a month before being put up for adoption.

Animal Nation began as a wildlife rescue group in 2001 and has since expanded to include farm and domestic animal rescue and adoption in Westchester and Fairfield counties, focusing primarily on cats and kittens. For more information about them, check out their website here.
