LARCHMONT, N.Y. Although most people stopped on the street declined to comment Thursday on the Supreme Court ruling upholding Obamacare, the few who did were adamant in their support or opposition to the plan.
Ive been very pro-Obama, and I think there has to be something done about health care in this country, said Louise Newland, co-owner of Designer One in Larchmont. Im not sure if its the perfect plan, but Im not sure what is.
Vince Matturo was just passing through Larchmont Thursday morning on his way to New York City. I think Obamacare is ridiculous, he said. I think that private health care is a better way to maximize efficiency in the health care system.
The women knitting at Alices Silver Canvas on Chatsworth Avenue felt overall the decision was wrong, and a few thought it was outrageous.
I think its disgusting and unconstitutional, said Jessie Reznitsky. Why should somebody be forced to have something they cant afford? Id like a lot of things I cant afford.
Jean Boniello voiced a similar opinion. I just know what happened today wasnt right, she said. And we were all kind of shocked.
The Supreme Court ruling, released Thursday morning, upholds the plan's individual mandate.
There are a lot of things we need in the country, and this isnt it, said Reznitsky.
