Sex Offender Convicted Of Attempted Rape Reports Move From New Rochelle To Mount Vernon

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of attempted rape has reported a move.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 39-year-old Jelani Rogers, who has moved from Washington Avenue in New Rochelle to a basement apartment on South Second Avenue in Mount Vernon.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Rogers as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Rogers had "deviate sexual intercourse" his victim in May 1999. He was convicted of attempted in May the following year and sentenced to a term of between one day and four years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Elmsford Village Police Department.
