LARCHMONT, N.Y. -- While Black Friday gave many retailers a boost, residents like Lyn Peterson avoided the chaos and waited for Cyber Monday to do their holiday shopping online.
Peterson, a Scarsdale resident, bought holiday cards online from Write On, a Larchmont stationary store located on 2101 Boston Post Rd. The decorator and co-founder of Motif Designs, which used to have a Larchmont location, also visited the store Monday while in town for a doctors appointment.
Peterson, who used to live in Larchmont, also bought some clothes from the Ralph Lauren website for family and friends. Other popular websites for Larchmont residents, like Rachel Selonick, were Amazon.com and Shop Box.
Black Friday lifted retail stocks going into Monday, according to the National Retail Federation, which reported 226 million shoppers turned out for Black Friday, a 6.6 percent increase from last year. Shoppers also spent 9.1 percent more this year than they did last year.
