Located at 58775 Route 48 in Greenport, The Halyard is known primarily for its careful use of locally-sourced ingredients.

“We celebrate our region’s produce and bring it to your plate—direct from foragers and farmers, growers and fishermen,” reads the restaurant’s website. “The team sources ingredients from the North Fork and the Atlantic Seaboard and serves them up in our light-filled dining room and sprawling deck above the Long Island Sound.”

Fall menu options include autumn-themed appetizers like the Brussels sprout kimchi, clam chowder with bacon and autumn beet salad with pear, walnut, bleu cheese and endive.

Fall entree options include seasonal and savory selections including the house-made ricotta cavatelli with butternut squash, crisp sage and roasted hazelnut, the grilled Montauk monkfish with roasted cauliflower, black garlic and sesame sauce and the grass-fed New York strip steak with celery root puree and Brussels sprouts.

Be sure to enjoy a seasonal wine or cocktail with your meal as well. The Halyard is heralded for its wide selection of local wines and craft cocktails created by some of the area’s “top mixologists.”

It’s no surprise that The Halyard’s attention to detail and spectacular waterfront views have earned the eatery an impressive 4.3/5-star rating on Facebook. Guests are quick to compliment the atmosphere as well as the overall food quality.

“Three pleasures: Wonderful ambiance inside and out, with water views, creative food that is still down-to-earth, amazing cocktails, and attentive, professional service,” wrote Claire H. in an Oct. 14 Facebook review.

The Halyard is open for lunch and dinner throughout the week. For more information, visit the restaurant’s website.
