"It's an honor to win best hot dogs from The Daily Voice and to see the overwhelming support that our customers have for us," said Katharine Warrington Woodward, PR & Events Manager. "We take so much pride in this business that our grandfather, Gene, built and carried on, so any recognition for the hard work we all do and community we keep building makes it all worth it. Thank you to our Westchester Walter's family for voting for us!"
In keeping with its community spirit, the eatery will be doing a collaboration with Black Tap, the NYC craft burger and beer joint with outposts in SoHo and the meatpacking district, on Friday, Sept. 16 and throughout the weekend, while supplies last.
Chef/Owner Joe Isidori, who's a lifelong Walter’s customer, will be at Walter's whipping up The Cookies and Cream Supreme shake for the day, and will continue the takeover at both Black Tap locations in the city throughout the weekend serving dogs and curly fries.
"It’s really an old school meets new school collaboration," said Woodward. "We are basically 'Black Tapping' our traditional Oreo shake made with our homemade Oreo ice cream; it’s getting garnished with chocolate syrup, Oreo crunch, whole Oreo cookies and topped with whipped cream."
The Oreo shake is available from Sept. 16 to Sunday, Sept. 18. Walter's is at 937 Palmer Ave., www.waltershotdogs.com/ and is open from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
