Duffy has joined the staff of state Senator Greg Ball (R, C–Patterson) as director of operations.

An accountant by trade, Duffy, a Republican, served as Lewisboro town supervisor from 2009 to 2011. He sought a second term, but was defeated by challenger Peter Parsons. He has spent the past year as a partner in the accounting firm of Duffy Terenzi LLP. But when Ball approached him in December about taking the job, he couldn’t resist.

“The opportunity to work the senator was something I was very interested in,” he said. “I think he has a very bright future. He’s not afraid to speak his mind and I respect that. It made me want to pursue it and be part of something special.”

As director of operations, Duffy’s responsibilities include coordinating activities and management of the senator’s staff. He also gets involved in constituent services and the senator’s legislative efforts.

“We get a lot of issues where constituents come to us and we try to help them out individually,” Duffy said. “I also help with coordinating public activities for the senator and making him available for the towns in his district. We try to make sure he is accessible and that people can have direct contact. That can happen in many ways – such as the legislative updates he gives to town boards, Town Hall meetings and our Senator on Your Corner events.”

Duffy admits it’s a grueling and challenging endeavor.

“This is a 24/7 job and you best be ready for it,” he said. “It’s demanding. Our goal is not to miss a call. Greg demands a lot of himself and demands it of his staff.”

Duffy said he’s enjoyed the experience so far.

“To experience Albany and the legislative efforts has been great,” he said. “It’s great to be a part of it and working to make New York better. When I get home I am tired. But I get up the next day and I’m ready to do it again.”
