Vista Fire Department Responds To Six Calls

VISTA, N.Y. – The Vista Fire Department responded to six calls last week, including a vehicle rollover accident and several ambulance requests.

The fire log for the week of Sept. 24-30 follows:

Tuesday, Sept. 25

At 6:25 p.m. the department received a report of an automatic fire alarm activation at a residence on Hillcrest Court. It was determined to have been set off due to cooking.

The department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on West Lane at 8:29 p.m. The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Thursday, Sept. 27

At 8:46 a.m., the department received a request for the ambulance at a residence on Fox Run Road. The patient refused to be transported to a hospital.

At 9:48 a.m., the department received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Smithridge Road with an entrapment. South Salem Fire Department was dispatched as automatic mutual aid. First responders arrived to find a one-car rollover accident and the driver had already gotten out of the vehicle. South Salem FD was returned, and the patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Friday, Sept. 28

The department received a report of a branch of the wires arching at 3:18 p.m. The company arrived and notified NYSEG.

Saturday, Sept. 29

The department received a report of an outside gas odor in the area of a Mill River Road residence at around 8:53 a.m. Firefighters checked the area but nothing was found.
