Man, 23, Faces Drug Charge In Route 22 Incident

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Danbury man has been arrested on a misdemeanor drug charge stemming from an incident on Route 22 in Southeast, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

Members of the Sheriff’s Department Special Conditions Unit observed suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Towne Center on Route 22 in Southeast on Oct. 17 at approximately 1:55 a.m., according the sheriff’s department.

The officers alleged that Bruno L. Souza, 23, of Danbury, possessed cocaine, and that he was also the subject of a bench warrant issued by Town of Southeast Justice Court.

The officers arrested Souza and charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor, reported the sheriff’s department.

Carmel Justice Spofford committed Souza to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,750.00 cash or bond, as reported by the sheriff’s department.

If the court finds the defendant guilty, he could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
