South Salem Fire Department Carnival: 6-11 p.m. The departments 44th annual carnival, held on the grounds of the South Salem firehouse, features rides ranging from the Ferris wheel to merry-go-round. There are plenty of midway games, raffles, and carnival food from sausage-and-pepper sandwiches to funnel cakes and cotton candy. Admission is free. 1190 Route 35, South Salem.
Open Mic Night at Marielas: 8-11 p.m. Get your talent on and be heard! All talent levels are welcome. The event is hosted by Gordon Thurber and admission is free. Marielas is at 71B Westchester Ave. in Pound Ridge. Call 914-764-3424 for more information.
Sleeping With Wolves: 7 p.m.-9 a.m. The Wolf Conservation Center's new nocturnal adventure experience provides a chance to camp out overnight with the 25 wolves that call the center home. With all the howls, circling vultures and nature's nighttime chatter, you'll feel as if you're camping under the stars with wild wolves. Galactic at Ridgefield Playhouse: 8 p.m. One of the best funk bands out of New Orleans, Galactic, featuring former Living Color vocalist Corey Glover, is part of a diverse community of musicians. They create something thats a little like a revue, a virtual show featuring different vocalists (mostly from New Orleans) and instrumental soloists each taking their turn on stage. Evening Howl for All Ages: 6:30-8 p.m. Join the Wolf Conservation Center for a special Evening Howl and visit the wolves during their favorite hour dusk. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolves in North America and enjoy a sunset howl with the wolves. Youll observe the centers critically endangered red wolves and Mexican wolves as well. Cost is $16 for adults, $13 for children under 12. Registration is required.
