Police: Fallen Tree Causes Minor Damage to Apartments

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Lewisboro police reported that a tree fell onto the roof of an apartment building in Goldens Bridge last week, causing minor flooding and electrical damage to some of the apartments.

Officers were called to a Wild Oaks Road apartment house, along with the Goldens Bridge Fire Department, on Wednesday, Dec. 7. When they arrived they observed that the tree had damaged the roof and water was coming through the ceiling and some light fixtures in apartments 201, 101 and 102. The fire department notified Con Edison to turn off the power in the damaged apartments. No injuries were reported.

The fire department remained on the scene, but no further assistance from the police department was needed.

DEC. 7

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Ridgefield Avenue for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers were told that the father of the household had left the residence to take two of his three children to dinner. Police spoke with the wife who said the couple is in the process of getting a divorce and do not live together, but had a verbal dispute. There were no injuries or charges filed.

A resident on Kitchawan Road in South Salem called police headquarters to say that an oil delivery truck had gotten stuck in his driveway. Police interviewed the truck driver who said he was waiting for his boss to come pull out the truck. He stated that he was backing into the driveway and went off the side and got caught on the wet lawn. The boss arrived and towed the truck from the property. The driver and boss told the homeowner they would come back the next day to repair damage to the lawn.

DEC. 8

A South Salem man phoned the Lewisboro police to complain that a silver Mercedes SUV had followed him down his driveway. When he approached the vehicle, it drove away and he was unable to get the license number. The man said that a similar incident occurred last week with a Range Rover. The man stated he was going through a divorce and was not sure if these incidents were related, but he wanted them on file.

Police responded to a vandalism call on Lambert Ridge Road in Cross River. A woman reported that her son had held a house party on Dec. 2 and someone took the Mercedes Benz emblem off the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

DEC. 9

Police were called to the intersection of Spring Street and Route 35 for a single-vehicle auto accident. The driver said she was traveling west on Old Post Road with a delivery truck behind her that was tailgating and blowing its horn. She stated she was trying to go to Ridgefield, Conn. and the GPS kept telling her to turn. When she did she was going too fast and went off the road and struck a number of rocks and trees. The vehicle was towed and no summonses were issued.

DEC. 10

Officers were dispatched to home on Twin Lakes Road in South Salem on a domestic disturbance call. The father told police that he and his daughter had an argument over turning on the furnace. He stated that the daughter had tried to pull the wires out of the furnace and he tried to physically restrain her. There were no injuries and no charges were filed.

DEC. 11

Police responded to a residence on Schoohouse Road for what was reported as a distraught woman screaming in the doorway. Officers interviewed the woman who told them she was lost and had been driving around for two hours trying to get directions from someone in order to get back to Long Island. Offices provided her with directions and escorted her to Route 35.
