Initially, the council elections were slated to be uncontested; both the local Democratic and Republican committees cross-endorsed each other's candidates. Pappalardo had previously run with the Republicans, while Welsh had run on the Democratic slate.
Welsh lost the Republican ballot line when Duffy defeated him in a September write-in primary. As a result, the two share running mates on each major party's slates.
The shared running mates - Supervisor Peter Parsons, Town Clerk Janet Donohue and Town Justice Susan Simon - are each running unopposed for their re-election bids.
Highway Superintendent Peter Ripperger, who was also cross-endorsed by both major parties, is facing Steve Hill, a former superintendent who is running on the Conservative Party ballot line.

Candidates will also appear on several minor-party ballot lines. Duffy will also be listed on the Conservative and Independence Party lines; Pappalardo will appear on the Conservative and Reform Party lines; and Welsh will be listed on the Green and Working Families Party lines.
Uncontested candidates with minor-party lines include Parsons, who will also have the Working Families Party line; Donohue, who will appear under the Conservative and Reform Party lines; and Simon, who has the Conservative Party line.
