The rescue effort began in Putnam County around 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27, when members of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Lake Oscawana for a reported drowning near Goose Rock. Boy Scout Helps Rescue Man From Frigid Waters After ATV Falls Through Ice This story has been updated. A Putnam Valley man in his 50s was rescued in dangerous conditions after falling through the ice on his four-wheeled ATV on Lake Oscawana. The incident took place around 7:19 p.m. Wednesday, when deputies were responding to a report of a male screaming for help, possibly out on the ice in Lake Oscawana in Putnam Valley.
