Eshaal, a bright and spirited student at Plainview’s Mattlin Middle School, was recently diagnosed with leukemia, sparking an outpouring of support from the Long Island community and beyond.
A GoFundMe campaign titled “Support Eshaal’s Fight Against Leukemia” was launched by family friend Marisa Wein to help ease the financial burden of medical treatment, travel, and time away from work. As of Monday, April 14, the fundraiser had already brought in more than $4,800 from donors touched by Eshaal’s story.
“Eshaal is a bright, kind, and resilient young girl with a fun personality who brings joy to everyone she meets,” Wein wrote in the campaign description. “This has come as a sudden and overwhelming challenge for her and her family.”
Eshaal’s younger brother is a student at Pasadena Elementary School, and the entire family is described as deeply woven into the fabric of the local school community.
Daniela Gasan, a Long Island physical therapist who has worked closely with Eshaal, shared a message on Facebook urging friends and neighbors to donate.
“Eshaal is my longtime sweetest patient,” she wrote. “She just got diagnosed with leukemia. Any amount will help the family through this unexpected challenge.”
The campaign, organized under the name Team Eshaal, encourages people to give whatever they can to help the family focus on what matters most: her healing and care.
“Together,” Wein wrote, “we can make a meaningful difference.”
Those interested in supporting Eshaal and her family can donate via GoFundMe.
