PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Purchase College-SUNY will hold its fifth annual appraisal camp from Saturday, June 4 through Sunday, June 19 that covers the full spectrum including the arts, antiques, coins and other specialties.

The non-credit certificate program, run through the School of Liberal Studies & Continuing Education, is a partnership with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA).

The intense two-week program, taught by accredited senior appraisers, has led more than 70 students toward ASA accreditation over the past five years.

“We’re proud of this unique program which provides the skills necessary to build a fulfilling career. We’re confident that by the time participants leave our campus that they have taken an important step toward becoming an appraiser or working as an appraisal expert in a gallery, auction house, or insurance company," said Kelly Jackson, director of the School of Continuing Education at Purchase College.

Focusing on personal property and the collecting of fine art, decorative art, antiques, furniture, jewelry, coins, stamps, and other specialties, the participants learn the history and tools necessary to appraise and/or collect a wide range of items with assurance and competence.

Lectures are complemented by field trips, and the use of the college’s Neuberger Museum of Art, one of the ten largest university museums in the U.S.

Hailing from California, Wyoming, Colorado, and beyond, this year’s cohort of gallery owners, gemologists, auto experts, and others, will spend two weeks taking classes in personal property valuation, appraisal, research and analysis, writing, and the legal and commercial environment.

Spaces are still available. For information, contact and/or visit
