To the Editor:

Please share the following reminder with our friends and neighbors in the City of White Plains.

Fall has arrived and with it are the early days of another exciting new school year. Our bright-eyed and eager young students are facing all the challenges and opportunities of starting new schools; entering new grade levels and exploring new subjects. It’s truly a wonderful time of year filled with the promise of positive development and new academic possibilities.

In White Plains, as in many of our surrounding communities, we believe that our community is a tremendous partner in the learning process and in the positive development of our children. In this spirit we are asking for your help. We’re counting on you, our friends and neighbors, to help enable all of our children arrive at school easily and safely as they travel along our sidewalks and through the streets of White Plains.

Please help our children on their daily journey to school by obeying all of the rules of the road and please remember to observe proper safety procedures when school buses are on the road. Please watch for our children as they wait at their bus stops on street corners, and other locations, or as they walk along the sides of roads, particularly where sidewalks may not be available.

Please be especially cautious on Wednesday, October 4th, when our PTA sponsors the “Walk/Bike to School Day” throughout the school district.

Together, as we remember the safety of our children, we can help make this another great school year in the White Plains CSD. Thank you in advance for assisting to protect our children!
