Get Technology Help At Middle School's 'Genius Bar'

HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Louis M. Klein Middle School Genius Bar is an outstanding example of students helping other students. Modeled after the successful Apple Genius Bar, students and teachers are welcome to visit the Genius Bar if they are experiencing problems with their phone, device, Google app or anything else technology-related.

The Louis M. Klein Middle School Genius Bar is currently open before school at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The LMK Genius Bar, facilitated by LMK teacher Ashley Harvey, is comprised of 13 students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

The goal of the Genius Bar is to ease the learning experience for students and teachers in the school’s BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) initiative through tech support. In doing so, the LMK “Geniuses” are also furthering their own understanding of technology and problem-solving.

The “Geniuses” have a range of knowledge but are also trained to research solutions to problems that might not be as familiar to them.

The LMK Genius Bar is currently open before school at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Given the success of the LMK Genius Bar, there are plans to expand the service to the LMK lunch periods and to provide tutorials, app reviews and large group sessions in the near future.

Unlike Apple’s Genius Bar, the LMK “Geniuses” offer support on all devices and platforms. Visitors are encouraged to drop by anytime and no appointment is needed.

The LMK “Geniuses” are Kayla Cacsire, Vincenzo Pagnotta, Jenna Chiarella, Ethan Piliero, Mia Harris, Adil Rahman, Dafne Hernandez, Brandon Singel, Drake Martin, Mikayla Tucci, Araceli McFadden, Luke Wong and Kapil Modi.
