Westchester Man Found Sleeping In Vehicle Caught With Heroin, Police Say

A Putnam County man who was busted asleep behind the wheel in Westchester is facing drug charges after allegedly having heroin, police said.

Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to Laurel Court at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10, when there was a report of a man who was sleeping inside a vehicle.

According to police, the officers found Lake Peekskill resident Philip Twyman, 40, sitting inside his vehicle with his eyes closed. Further investigation determined that he was in possession of heroin and Twyman was arrested.

Twyman was transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Following his arraignment, Twyman was processed and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on June 11 for his arraignment.
