All candidates are required to be a legal resident of Westchester County at the time of the police officer examination and for a minimum of one month prior.

The exam — which is only offered every three to four years — will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, with applications due by Monday, July 25.

Proof of residency must be presented, if requested.

A study guide for the exam can be downloaded off the state Department of Civil Service website or picked up at the Westchester County Department of Human Resources office, where hard copies are available.

The cities of Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, White Plains and Yonkers each hold their own separate examination.
