Yonkers Smokers, located in Yonkers at 262 South Broadway, was shut down following an inspection by the city's smoke shop task force, Yonkers PD announced on Monday, March 27.

As a result of the inspection, many unlicensed products containing cannabis and unlicensed cannabinoids were confiscated from the store.

According to police, many of these products were designed to mimic the appearance of candy, including a THC-infused "Wonka Bar" coming in jelly doughnut and M&M flavors.

Authorities cited building and fire code violations as the reason for the store being shut down.

The shutdown comes after Yonkers officials announced that they would step up efforts to address smoke shops illegally selling unlicensed products to children earlier in March. The crackdown on Yonkers Smokers marks the fifth smoke shop in the city to be shut down in the last six months.

Yonkers PD warned parents to make sure their children do not have access to any of the unlicensed products sold by the shop.

"These items are in our community - please keep a watchful eye on young kids who could potentially have access to them," the department said on social media.
