Man Charged With Stealing Cash, iPhone From Driver After Cab Ride From Westchester To Nyack

A man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly stole cash and an iPhone from a taxi driver after a ride from Westchester to Nyack.

On Wednesday, Jan. 9, 39-year-old William A. Caccia of Bleeker Street in Mount Vernon took a cab from Yonkers to North Midland Avenue in Nyack. After arriving at his destination, Caccia claimed that he needed to visit his mother at Nyack Hospital in order to get money to pay his fare.

When Caccia, of Mount Vernon, returned to the vehicle, he grabbed the driver and took his cash and iPhone before fleeing the area.

Orangetown Police Detectives worked to investigate the incident. Sunday, Feb. 3, Caccia was arrested in Yonkers and transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters for processing. Caccia was charged with:

  • Third-degree robbery
  • Petit larceny
  • Theft of services
  • Fifth-degree possession of stolen property
  • Second-degree harassment

Caccia was remanded to Rockland County Jail on $5,000 bail.
