Florence O'Grady, 87, Retired Educator, Of Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. – Florence T. O'Grady of Harrison died Feb 5. She was 87.

O'Grady was born Aug. 2, 1925, in New York City to John and Florence Connolly O'Grady. Raised in Mount Vernon, she later moved to Tuckahoe and then Harrison.

Active in politics, O'Grady ran unsuccessfully for congress and county legislator under the Right to Life Party.

She had four master's degrees from Columbia and Fordham University in science, education, nursing and social studies. She worked in the New York City school system before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory’s Church in Harrison.

O'Grady is survived by a brother, John O'Grady, of Pleasantville; a sister, Veronica "Vera" O'Grady, of Bronx, N.Y.; and seven nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. McMahon, Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains is handling arrangements.
