HARRISON, N.Y. – A fundraiser for the family of a late Department of Public Works employee, a school concert and a talk about compassion highlight events in Harrison this week.

Monday, May 21

Academic Help: Tutors will be available at the Harrison Public Library to help children with their schoolwork, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Sing, Dance With Jeffrey Friedberg: 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. Children ages 3-5 are invited to the West Harrison Library to sing and dance with Jeffrey Friedberg, 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Jazz Night: 7 p.m. Harrison High School presents Jazz Night, 255 Union Ave., Harrison.

Reconnecting With Compassion: 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The second event in the Community, Civility and Compassion series of panel discussions at the Harrison Public Library. The film "Reconnecting with Compassion" will be shown, followed by a discussion with Haifa Bint-Kadi, the Muslim chaplain at Manhattanville College. Each event is open to adults and students and will include a guest speaker and a screening or activity covering topics involving race, inclusion and community understanding. The goal is to bring the community together through a dialogue about difficult issues, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Tuesday, May 22

SAT Registration: Tuesday is the late deadline to register to take the SAT exam.

Spring Concert: 8:30 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. The Louis M. Klein Middle School band, chorus, singers and orchestra will hold their spring concert, 50 Union Ave., Harrison.

Kindergarten Parent Orientation: 9 a.m. Parsons Memorial School will hold an orientation for the parents of next school year's kindergarten students, 200 Halstead Ave., Harrison.

Wednesday, May 23

Law Day: Harrison High School will hold Law Day, 255 Union Ave., Harrison.

Husky Day: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Harrison High School will host Husky Day, 255 Union Ave., Harrison.

Brown Bag Cinema: 12:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. The Harrison Public Library will show the movie "The Vow," 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

International Cafe: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Harrison High School will hold the food-tasting event International Cafe, 255 Union Ave., Harrison.

Meet the Author: 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Joan Katen, author of "Love at the Edge," will be at the Harrison Public Library to discuss her novel about a relationship between a Palestinian and an Israeli, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Thursday, May 24

Senior Prom: Harrison High School will hold its senior prom at the Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, 555 S. Barry Ave., Mamaroneck.

Friday, May 25

Schools Closed: All six schools in the Harrison Central School District will be closed on Friday.

Fundraiser for Michael Falkenstern: 7 p.m. Friends of the late Michael Falkenstern, a Department of Public Works employee, will hold a fundraiser to benefit his family at the Oakland Grill, 385 Halstead Ave., Harrison.
