Wegmans, Set To Open In Harrison, Named Best Grocery Chain In U.S.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY. N.Y. -- Wegmans, which has plans to open in Harrison -- assuming the plans go through (see earlier Daily Voice story here) -- has been named the best overall grocery-store chain in the U.S.

Wegmans will be located at an office park in Harrison near the I-287/I-684 junction.

The Rochester-based family-owned business was the highest-rated grocery chain out of more than 20 that appeared in Market Force Information's annual survey of the industry, according to Business Insider.

This is the second year in a row Wegmans has earned the top spot, beating out the ever-popular Trader Joe's.

Wegmans, known for its larger-than-average stores, is focused on variety, fresh products, and attentive customer service.

The company, founded 100 years ago, currently has 92 stores in the Northeast and is focused on expanding, with openings planned for Montvale, N.J. and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The Harrison store, still subject to approval by the Harrison Planning Board, would be located at 106-110 Corporate Park Drive, near the I-684/I-287 junction.
