HARRISON, N.Y. -- It's the middle of Walk to School Week, an Oct. 5-9 initiative that asks parents to leave cars hone and walk with their kids to and from school.
Walk to School Day was Monday, launching a week of activities at area schools, including Parsons Elementary School in Harrison. The school principal remarked on the "beautiful weather" as he retweeted information on the YMCA's website about the initiative
Supporters locally include parent volunteers, United Way of Westchester and Putnam and the PepsiCo Foundation, according to the YMCA.
