- Police arrested the man who escaped custody at Harrison station. The man was arrested at the home of a woman who was with him during the domestic dispute at the Harrison station. He escaped custody while being arrested at the Harrison train station.
- The Yankees will fight to keep Purchase's Joe Girardi as manager. Girardi grew up in Peoria, Ill., and was drafted as a player by the Chicago Cubs. He is rumored to be a candidate for the team's vacant manager position. Girardi has spent six seasons as the skipper in the Bronx and has one World Series title.
- Purchase College, SUNY alumnus Kyle Abraham, a dancer and choreographer, is among 24 creative individuals named 2013 MacArthur Fellows. The fellowship provides a stipend, which allows recipients to follow their own creative vision over the course of several years.
- Westchester is dealing with first government shutdown in 17 years after Congress failed to agree on a spending plan.
