We've seen no shortage of black bear sightings in the area, with the latest coming lakeside Thursday night in North Salem.
Nearby earlier in the day, there was a rare otter sighting.
Sadly, the otter was was hit by a car on Route 116 along the Titicus Reservoir, reports North Salem resident Matt Walter, who submitted a photo to Daily Voice.
"I didn't know there are otters in this area," the 54-year-old Walter said.
Walter took the photo around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Otters are part of the weasel family Mustelidae, which also includes badgers, honey badgers, martens, minks, polecats, weasels and wolverines, according to wikipedia.
