White Plains resident Michael Johnson, who had been accused of starting a fire that destroyed a vacant two-family Smith Street home in Port Chester in January, was sentenced this week to one year in jail for arson.
Johnson pleaded guilty to arson in July.
The fire took crews several hours to knock down the flames on Tuesday, Jan. 29, which was complicated when a first-floor roof collapsed, though there were no injuries reported. The property is now owned by Nen’s Bakery, which is across the street.
