HARRISON, N.Y. As Harrison continues to recover from the damage caused by Tropical Storm Irene last weekend, another storm system is brewing in the Atlantic.
The National Weather Service issued a notice Wednesday that Tropical Storm Katia is now almost a hurricane and is likely to become one Wednesday night. The storm is moving west-northwest at about 20 miles per hour.
There are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect, but the storm is producing maximum sustained winds of 70 mph.
The storm is more than 1,000 miles east of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean and will continue along its current path for at least the next 48 hours, according to the notice.
