HARRISON, N.Y. - The July case involving Maria Polera making unsolicited food deliveries to Mayor and Supervisor Joan Walsh was delayed again and will be revisited in late November. Polera was originally scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
Polera, a former Harrison Democratic Party district leader, pled not guilty to charges of harassment and theft of services in July after police discovered she was ordering pizza and sending them to Walsh's home. Polera ran for receiver of taxes on the same ticket as Walsh twice in the past five years and lost both times.
The case was adjourned in August when Town Judge Marc Lust was declared as unfit to preside over the case due to conflicts of interest. Both parties involved with the case agreed to waive his disqualification granting him access to the case.
Town Judge Ronald Bianchi said in August that he would recuse himself from the case and handed the case over to Lust. Both Bianchi and Polera were active members of the Democratic Party when Polera ran for receiver of taxes on Walsh's ticket in 2009. Bianchi also served as mayor of Harrison from 1998 to 2002.
