Harrison Chamber of Commerce Seeks New Board

HARRISON, N.Y. - While she announced her resignation last week, former head of the Harrison Chamber of Commerce Ada Angarano still kept active Wednesday in helping find "new blood" for the group.

Angarano, who said her final day with the chamber will be Jan. 31, said there's been a shortage of applicants for a new volunteer executive board consisting of a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. The chamber of commerce cannot begin its work until the positions are filled.

"The Harrison Chamber of Commerce is primarily for merchants and I strongly feel that Harrison merchants need to take control now while the downtown revitalization is starting to help bring the 'shopping status' up to speed," Angarano said.

According to Angarano, only one Harrison merchant has since volunteered to help form a new board. More applicants will be needed before the board can function.

Those interested in filling any of the board's positions can email Ada Angarano at Harrisoncc04@yahoo.com any day before the coming weekend.

"Step up to the plate and use your business suggestions with our new mayor, Ron Belmont, who wants to work with the merchants," Angarano said. "He cares about cleaning up the business district and if you all work together, Harrison will rise up and shine again."

Angarano announced that she will leave her position as president after seven years on the job. She is expecting the arrival of a new granddaughter and said that her job as a full-time grandmother must come first.
