WEST HARRISON, N.Y. -- Carmine Gentile, of West Harrison, died Feb. 7 at the age of 83.
He was born in Guardia die Lombardi, Italy on Dec. 20, 1928 to Salvatore and Angiolina Gentile. On Dec. 17, 1953, Gentile married Maria Luongo and they immigrated from Canada to the U.S. in 1974.
Gentile worked in ground maintenance at New York Cornell Hospital and enjoyed gardening, especially rose gardens.
Surviving are his wife Maria, his daughters Angelina (Giovanni) DiLeo and Filomena (Bruno) Palmieri, his son Salvatore (Maria) Gentile, his brothers Luigi Gentile and Pietro Gentile, his sisters Eleonora, Incoronata and Pasqualina, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. The funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in White Plains.
