HARRISON, N.Y. – Pet Rescue of Harrison took a moment this New Year to reflect on its successes in 2016.
In a “New Year’s Pupdate,” the nonprofit described several instances in the past year where it made a difference in the lives of animals.
One of the more visible achievements in 2016 involved Clinton Kelly, star of ABC’s “The Chew.”
In December, the Pet Rescue collected $15,000 in donations, which were then matched by Kelly, who also made over several of the animals.
Much of the money will ultimately be used to further the Pet Rescue’s mission, which in 2016 had a significant impact among animals in need.
The Pet Rescue saved 650 animal lives last year, finding each a permanent home, according to the Pupdate.
Further, the organization provided more than 1,000 dogs and cats with veterinary care, aided in spaying and neutering more than 400 cats and dogs at neighboring animal shelters and neutered more than 200 outdoor cats through its TNR program., according to the Pupdate.
Founded in 1982, the organization is planning to celebrate its 35th anniversary this year. Among its first acts of 2017: saving “16 adorable dogs.”
