Harrison's Can't Lose Diet Touts 'Real Food' As Key To Improved Health

HARRISON, N.Y. -- We assume that all advances in life are for the better. Faster computing power. Smarter phones. Cars that navigate. Apps that anticipate. Medicine that cures.

Eating natural, organic, fresh, unprocessed food is one of the keys to effective weight control.

New technology steadily disrupts old paradigms, making life new and improved. But there’s one very vital and necessary aspect of our lives that has not improved. In fact it’s difficult not to get angry and cynical because we’ve obviously been marketed to and misled for the sake of a profit.

By who? Our food source suppliers and governing agencies. They have injected antibiotics, processed, filled, added preservatives, sugar, flavoring, and genetically modified our food. Yet there is a denial and/or reluctance to connect the epidemic of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and mental stress to these recent industrial age changes.

Now this post is not about politics or taking down “the man."  It’s about education and helping people gain control of their health and the best place to start is with what you put in your body every day — food. So as ironic as it may sound, it’s about going backwards to a time where food was natural, organic, fresh, unprocessed, so that you are eating food for fuel, nutrition, medicinal properties. We want you to eat “Real Food” again!

So what is “Real Food”? It’s food that is minimally processed or close to it’s real or original state. Some people call it shop the outside aisle or perimeter because chances are the fresh produce section, the meat and seafood departments, and the dairy case are all located around the perimeter of the store.

It may sound boring but we promise that you don’t have to live on a farm or sacrifice flavor and satisfaction to eat real food. For example the dinner I made for myself tonight:

Lemon-Almond Chilean Seabass with Asparagus/Tomatoes & Potatoes

  • 7 oz. of Chilean Sea bass
  • .5 oz. of Almond Slivers
  • Lemon slices
  • 1 tablespoon of Coconut Oil
  • Garlic
  • Asparagus
  • Grape Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • 1 oz. feta cheese
  • Little potatoes
  • Avocado
  • Salt, pepper, red pepper

Coat the Chilean Sea Bass in salt, pepper, red pepper, garlic, and oil. Sear it on high in a pan then cover on low for 10 minutes. Top with .5 ounces of almonds and lemon. Roast the asparagus, tomatoes, diced onions, and feta cheese in a small pan under the broiler. Boil 100 grams of potatoes. Slice up avocado. Plate it.

Everything on this list is “real” and unprocessed, in its original natural state. There are no added chemicals or ingredients to this dish at all and I am controlling what is going into my body.

So don’t wait! Get started today. Go to the store and stock your cart high with fresh fruit, vegetables, spices, yogurt, and organic meat. We guarantee you that as you wean yourself off packaged and processed foods your body will love you, the scale will be your friend, and the doctor visits will be a pleasant surprise!
