What's Happening in Harrison this Weekend

HARRISON, N.Y. -- A plant sale, a fundraiser for a DPW worker and a boating safety course highlight what's happening in Harrison this Memorial Day weekend.


Schools Closed: All six schools in the Harrison Central School District will be closed on Friday.

Book Talk For Adults: 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. The West Harrison Library is hosting a book discussion group. This month's book is "The Best of Me" by Nicholas Sparks.

Fundraiser for Michael Falkenstern: 7 p.m. Friends of the late Michael Falkenstern, a Department of Public Works employee, will hold a fundraiser to benefit his family at the Oakland Grill, 385 Halstead Ave., Harrison.


Computer Orientation: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. The Harrison Public Library will hold a computer orientation class for the library catalog and the Internet, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Academic Help: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tutors will be available at the Harrison Public Library to help kids with their schoolwork, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Public Libraries Closed: Both the Harrison Public Library and the West Harrison Library will be closed today.

New York State Boating Safety Course: 9 a.m. The West Harrison Public Library is holding a boating-safety course. The certificate from the course fulfills the personal watercraft/jetski requirement in any state. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.
