The program will engage participants in real life scenarios with each other and professionals. Students will learn to defend their identity in the face of bias or anti-Semitism and they will get to know activists and professionals from campus organizations.
It is being presented in collaboration with AJC Westchester/Fairfield, ADL, Hillels of Westchester, Jerusalem U, Jewish National Fund, Rosenthal JCC, StandWithUs, and Your Voice in Israel, with support from UJA-Federation of New York
“We are thrilled that seven organizations -- each a frontline campus expert in this arena-will be under one roof for this program”, said Yoav Cohen, Westchester shaliach and event co-chair.
“This type of collaboration by so many campus groups has never been done before in Westchester. We are thrilled to bring these parties together for what is sure to be an impactful and very worthwhile evening, ”said Cohen.
Each presenter will focus on a specific topic and scenario that falls under their respective area of expertise and share real life experiences.
“Whether a student is confronted by “in-your-face” anti-Semitism, a professor who distorts facts, a fellow student in casual conversation in the cafeteria, or is confused as to how to maintain their Jewish identity in the face of anti-Israel sentiment, this program will equip and empower students with facts, knowledge and strategies to respond intelligently and with confidence,” said Jeff Kapelus, event co-chair and Westchester Jewish Council board member.
The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an Israeli style dinner, followed by a series of interactive workshops at 7 p.m.
