The day began with a performance by Open Thought’s Hip Hop Connections, which teaches the history and artistry behind hip hop. Students got a chance to try their hand "scratching" with a DJ, breakdancing and improvising rap lyrics.
Students continued on to two workshop tracks, participating in yoga, creative movement and a variety of other exercises. The afternoon also explored "good mood foods," contained an outdoors trek, introduced color therapy and fostered a discussion of students' relationships with each other.
The Art of Happiness Steering Committee included Principal Ashley Jackson, Director of Arts, Music and Special Programs, Miriam Bernabei, Library Media Specialist Joy Alter and social studies teacher Kasie Peralta.
