GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh’s fathers are invited to participate in “Dads Take Your Child to School Day” on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
“Dads Take Your Child to School Day” is part of a state-wide initiative to encourage fathers to be more involved in their children’s education throughout the school year. This year marks Westchester County’s inaugural participation in the campaign.
The Greenburgh Central School District asks that fathers drop their children off at school in the morning and attend a “Dads and Donuts” discussion with Interim Superintendent Tahira DuPree Chase and Board of Education President Terry Williams. Along with fathers, any other male caregiver is invited, including a step-father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, big brother or mentor.
Fathers have an undeniable effect on their children’s lives. Studies overwhelmingly show that positive paternal involvement is associated with improvements in children’s academic performance, cognitive development, behavior, confidence and well-being.
“Dads and Donuts” will take place in the Greenburgh Central administrative building, located at 475 W. Hartsdale Ave. in Hartsdale, at 10 a.m. The event is in conjunction with the Greenburgh Town government, its police and fire departments, and the Theodore D. Young Community Center.
