The programs slated to be cut include boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, softball and baseball.

In a letter to parents dated Feb. 16, schools superintendent Paula Valenti said the board “determined that exercising this efficiency during this preliminary phase of the budget process is best to prepare a fiscally responsible budget for presentation to taxpayers” on April 24.

Valenti stated there would be additional budget discussions and at least two work session meetings to permit trustees to craft a final 2017-2018 budget before then.
