Co-sponsored by WESPAC and Westchester for Change, the rally will focus on the policies of “controversial” two-term Republican County Executive Rob Astorino, organizers said in a statement.

“With so much attention focused on politics and so many newly involved activists stepping up, the 2017 County Executive election is going to be a referendum on Astorino’s policies,” student organizer George Fuss said. “When Westchester residents find out what he’s been up to, they won’t be happy.”

Organizers said protestors will highlight “the flaws in Astorino’s policies” and will “present a progressive agenda” they claim represents the wishes of Westchester voters.

Scheduled speakers at Sunday’s event include Westchester County Legislator Catherine Parker; Lena Anderson, president of the Greenburgh/White Plains NAACP; Chuck Bell of Resist Gun Violence Westchester; Don Heithaus, a former member of the Westchester County Airport Advisory Board; Rob May of ResistSpectra; Nada Khader of WESPAC; and Andy Falk of the Lower Hudson Valley Progressive Action Network.

Organizers encourage those attending the rally to bring signs, but warn that signs attached to sticks will not be permitted.
