Known as the Pink Moon, this stunning lunar event will rise in the east at dusk, illuminating the evening with its ethereal glow on Saturday, April 12.

It’s also known as the Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon, or Fish Moon.

April’s full moon, the first of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, will reach its peak illumination at 8:22 p.m. Eastern Time.

As Earth positions itself between the sun and the moon, stargazers can expect the moon to shine brightly throughout the night before descending into the west at dawn.

Those who miss the spectacle on April 12 can still enjoy a nearly full moon on Friday, April 11, and Sunday, April 13.

While it may be tempting to observe the moon at any hour, the full moon’s brightness can render it uncomfortable to view when high in the sky.

The optimal moments for observation are during its rise or set, with the ascent presenting a particularly breathtaking sight.
