GREENBURGH, N.Y. The Greenburgh Police Department has assembled a burglary taskforce in response to the recent string of burglaries in Edgemont at the end of 2011.
Over the past week, burglaries were not the only incidents that police responded to. Here are more items from the Greenburgh Police Department's blotter.
Vacation time: On Jan. 7, police responded to an alarm on Winthrop Lane. Upon arrival, they found the rear screen door open and the rear door unlocked. No one was inside and the house was re-secured, said police. The homeowner was away, but notified. The homeowner arranged for someone to visit the house occasionally until they return.
Suspicious man: On Jan. 7, police were notified of two instances of a man on Winthrop Avenue and Rumbrook Road who attempted to lure children into his vehicle by offering them money.
Not in New York: On Jan. 8, police pulled over a Subaru on South Central Avenue for having an expired inspection sticker from September 2011. The driver was found to not have a New York driver's license and a suspended driving status in the state, police said.
Verbal harassment: On Jan. 8, a woman at Stonewall Circle told police she had called her boyfriend to ask why he had not spoken to her on her birthday the day before. The boyfriend reportedly became irate, cursed and threatened to kill her.
Stolen plates: On Jan. 9, a woman on Poe Street reported that both license plates on her Ford were taken from the vehicle. The woman told police she believes it was done by her estranged daughter, who recently canceled the car's insurance policy.
