The luncheon, sponsored by Friends of Neighbors Link, raised more than $65,000, to support the Neighbors Link mission of strengthening whole communities by helping to integrate immigrants.
Navarro, whose family immigrated to the U.S. during Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign in 1980, is a Republican. She supported Jeb Bush for president and made no bones about her disdain for Donald Trump.
Carola Bracco, executive director of Neighbors Link, said, "This type of fear-mongering has a negative and traumatic impact that will reverberate throughout the country. It is counterproductive and our local economy will suffer for it.
"Neighbors Link will continue to work with everyone who comes to us find a pathway to citizenship so they may become fully contributing members of our economy and community."
Navarro had the audience chuckling when she described herself as a "Ronald Reagan Republican, a George Herbert Walker Bush Republican, a George W. Bush Republican, an endangered species Republican!"
After her talk, she held a brief Q&A and was asked what can people do to help. She encouraged attendees to call their congressional representatives and let them know where you stand on issues. She was also happy to know that organizations such as Neighbors Link exist, and she applauded them for the good work they do.
