Annual Habitat For Humanity 5K Coming To Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County invites local residents to join in a 5K run and walk on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Bridgeport.

The 19th Annual 5K Run for Home and WorkBoot Challenge takes place at Seaside Park. 

Registration and stretching begins at 7:30 a.m., with the race and workboot challenge at 9 a.m. The kids relay race starts at 10 a.m. 

The 5k Race is computer timed and awards will be given to the male and female champions as well as the top three male and female runners in various age groups.

Free food and beer follows the ceremony.

For the first time this year, runners can opt into the WorkBoot Challenge by running or walking in work boots alongside those in sneakers. 

Online registration is currently open for the event which will help local families obtain affordable housing in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity CFC. 

The price of entry is $25 for those who register prior to the race and $30 the day of the race. Children 12 years old and under are free for both the main event and kids' relay.
