Peachwave recently opened at 228 East Hartsdale Ave., tucked between Harry's restaurant and Bagels And More just a few yards from the train station and is the first of three Westchester Peachwave franchises opening this spring.
Owner Gregg Roberts and his Redding Railroad Frozen Yogurt group are based in nearby Connecticut where the owner has several established spots. Roberts will open Peachwave Armonk and Peachwave Mohegan Lake in the coming weeks.
"We have had a great response in Hartsdale already (since the March 26 opening)," said Roberts, who has been in real estate and the boxing business prior to his move to frozen yogurt. "We want to have a place that is comfortable and fun and we want people to come in, relax and enjoy the all the choices we have."
Peachwave is a large space with high ceilings and room enough to walk and talk without bumping elbows or yogurts, which are self-created and topped by customers. Flavors range from vanilla and chocolate to pineapple and there are dozens of toppings -- nuts, fruits and sauces.
"We want people to come and stay and not have to feel rushed," Roberts said. "We vary the music, play all kinds of things, and the younger kids don't have to be confined to chairs and tables. It about having fun."
Roberts said his move from New York City business life to the suburbs inspired his move to Peachwave.
"Connecticut and Westchester have so much to offer residents and visitors," he said. "Peachwave and its owners are very family oriented. The company is dedicated to giving back to communities and each of the stores reflects that family feeling."
