Rashina McKinnon, address unknown, was arrested around 1:52 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 4, after Town of Poughkeepsie police were called to the R&K Grocery at 737 Main St., said Capt. Michael O'Dowd.

When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that McKinnon had allegedly repeatedly hit customers and refused to leave the store, O'Dowd said.

When she saw the police officers, McKinnon allegedly stole merchandise and then fled the store on foot, he added.

Officers attempted to take McKinnon into custody in the parking lot of McDonald’s on Main Street, but she fought with officers and did hit one officer in the head with a construction brick causing an injury, O'Dowd said.

Following a brief struggle, McKinnon was arrested, and once in custody, she provided officers with a fake name. She was charged with assault, forgery, resisting arrest, petit larceny, and false personation.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for his injuries where he was treated and released.

McKinnon was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. She is scheduled to reappear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
