Police Seize Heroin, Fentanyl, Cocaine, Loaded Handgun In Poughkeepsie Drug Raid

A drug raid in Poughkeepsie has led to the discovery and seizure of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and a loaded handgun, police say.

A search warrant was carried out at Apartment 204 on 159 Franklin Street in Poughkeepsie on Thursday, Feb. 14 by members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit and Emergency Services Unit, Poughkeepsie Police said.

During the search, officers recovered and seized:

  • Approximately 10 grams of cocaine
  • 16 grams of a heroin/fentanyl compound
  • 19 grams of hashish
  • A loaded .45 caliber handgun
  • Approximately $2,300 of U.S. currency
  • A scale
  • Packaging materials
  • Phones
  • Other miscellaneous items used in the distribution of controlled substances

The resident’s occupant, 27-year-old Tyquan D. Skinner, is currently on parole for a felony conviction of criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested and charged with:

  • Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (2 counts), a Class B felony
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class C felony
  • Second-degree use of drug paraphernalia, a Class B misdemeanor

Skinner is being held pending arraignment.
