Call For Shots Fired Sends Police Out In Force In Dutchess

State Police turned out in force after a call was received for shots fired, but once on the scene, it was discovered it was falsely reported.

The incident took place around 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, when New York State Police received a 911 call about a reported disturbance involving a gun and shots fired at a home in Red Hook, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

When officers arrived on the scene they found that the incident had been falsely reported, Hicks said.

"No one was injured and there was no shooting," Hicks said.

An investigation is underway regarding the incident, he added.

State police were assisted by Red Hook Police Department, the Rhinebeck Police Department, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and the Red Hook Fire Department.
