14-Year-Old Surrenders After Poughkeepsie Stabbing, Police Say

A 14-year-old turned himself into City of Poughkeepsie police for allegedly stabbing a 16-year-old in the ribs during a confrontation.

The stabbing took place around 2:54 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, on Grubb Street, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.

When police responded they found the victim stabbed once in the ribs and transported him to an area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released the next day, Clark said.

The 14-year-old suspect turned himself in at police headquarters and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of facial injuries sustained during the incident with the victim, he added. 

The suspect was issued an appearance ticket to appear at the Probation Department at a later date.
