Police are asking the public for help in an investigation in which a car struck a bicycle, injuring two teens, one seriously, in the area.

The incident took place in the Town of Poughkeepsie around 7:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, during the intense snowstorm on Vassar Road in front of Dimpy's Food Mart.

According to officers with the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Traffic Enforcement Unit, a red 2014 Subaru Legacy operated by a 34-year-old Poughkeepsie resident struck a bicycle that was being ridden by a 15-year-old boy from Poughkeepsie, and a 16-year-old girl from Wappingers Falls.

The boy sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. The female bicyclist sustained serious physical injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the Subaru was not injured.

The department was assisted on the scene by members of the Arlington Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Services.

The investigation is ongoing and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking any additional witnesses to the crash to come forward and contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.
